If you are a website owner who has a blog or some other kind of dynamic website which utilizes a mysql database, but you don’t have (or you don’t know how to use) phpMyAdmin then you need a very easy way to backup and export your mysql database, right?

Well I also faced this problem recently, one of my client sites didn’t have phpMyAdmin installed and he needed a quick and easy method to download the backup. So here is a script that solved my client’s problem, and now am releasing it so it solves yours problem as well

How to use:
1)
Download mySQL Backup script (1.17 KB)

2) Extract all files
3) Edit database details in index.php (5 lines in the top, it’s commented properly for your convenience)
4) Upload it to your server
5) Launch it: http://www.yourdomain.com/export/

and you are done

Let me know if you face any problems.

Features in queue for next version:
1) Have the database information added via a form directly. No need to edit .php files
2) Have the option of saving file on server.
3) Have the option of emailing the file.
4) Add instructions for CRON Job.

Hi there,

A friend of mine asked me how to add some text before and after post content in Wordpress using Plugins.. it’s easy!

Let me tell you how:

function add_test_text($content) {
$content = “Before Content<hr>”.$content;
$content .= “<hr>After Content”;
return $content;
}

add_filter( “the_content”, “add_test_text”,1 );

What we are doing here? let me explain line by line:

function add_test_text($content) {

We are just starting a function here with $content as the first (and only) variable.. Function name is “add_test_text”

$content = “Before Content<hr>”.$content;

What we are doing here is we are assigning “Before Content” as the value of the variable $content.

".$content; this just adds (suffixes) the original $content variable after the string.

$content .= “<hr>After Content”;

If you notice there is a “.” (dot) before “=” (equals to sign), this DOT tells PHP that we want to add something after the variable.. rest is just like above.

return $content;
}

Then we return the post content to wordpress and } closes the function.

add_filter( “the_content”, “add_test_text”,1 );

This is the magic part, what we are doing here is we are telling wordpress to add and apply our function “add_test_text” to post content.

Consider this:
1) You don’t have access to phpMyAdmin.
2) Your access is limited to FTP.
and you forgot your wordpress admin panel password!!

So what do you do? Well here is the solution: (Must Read: Important Note)

Step 1): (Screenshot)
Download this file “Wordpress: Reset Admin Password Script”, Extract & Upload it in your Wordpress directory (it must share the same folder with wp-config.php).

Step 2): (Screenshot)
Open it in your browser (ex: http://yoursite.com/wordpress/reset_pass.php)

Step 3): (Screenshot)
Click on your Username, enter a new password and click submit, your password is updated. You can login with your new password now.

Step 4): (Screenshot)
For security reasons it is advised to either delete OR rename reset_pass.php on your server.

It can’t get simpler than that, no?

1. Please delete reset_pass.php after you have changed your password
2. Wait for an updated version of the script where you will be forced to add a security answer to the file before uploading it so we can verify against it before changing any passwords.

Hi guys,

kPicasa Gallery is a wordpress plugin by Guillaume Hébert which as it’s name suggest let’s you display your Picasa gallery on your blog.

kPicasa requires that post or page where you want your gallery to appear should be solely based on the kPicasa gallery code.. there should be no other text in the post. So when you add another plugin like Digg Digg, or TweetMeme which adds content to the post (digg button/tweet button etc) kPicasa will stop working.

So how to fix it? it’s actually very easy just follow these steps:

1) open wp-content/plugins/kpicasa-gallery/kpicasa_gallery.php
2) Go to line 104
3) Line 104 reads:

add_filter(‘the_content’, ‘loadKPicasaGallery’);

4) Change it to:

add_filter(‘the_content’, ‘loadKPicasaGallery’,1);

5) Save & Upload the file

and you are done easy right?
