Pakistan’s Naseem Hamid created history on Monday by becoming the fastest woman of the region when she won the 100-metre sprint gold medal at the South Asian Games.
The 22-year-old from Rawalpindi clocked 11.81seconds, 0.12seconds ahead of Sri Lanka’s Pramila Priyadarshani, to bag her first gold medal before a strong crowd at Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Anne Hathaway and Academy president Tom Sherak have the honor of announcing the nominations for the 2010 Academy Awards at a ceremony on Tuesday (February 2) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Leading the way with nominations are Avatar and The Hurt Locker, with nine nods each.
A change this year – Best Picture has ten nominees! Included on the list are Up in the Air, The Blind Side, Precious and District 9.
The 2010 Academy Awards will air March 7 at 8/7c on ABC. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will serve as co-hosts of the event.

Love Story author Erich Segal has died from a heart attack at home in London aged 72, his daughter has said.
Segal was a classics professor at Yale University when he wrote the book, which became an Oscar-winning 1970 film starring Ryan O’Neal and Ali MacGraw.
