26 January 2013 No Comment

Samsung in this year’s Consumer Electronics Show of 2013 had curved AMOLED displays. The tablets, monitors as well as phones were the gadgets being implemented upon. AMOLED are the displays for the future. The curved displays can change everything from gamepads to steering wheels.

The AMOLED curved display is still a nascent technology and it’s too early to predict its ins and outs. The implementation on smartphones is spectacular and the battery can be compromised with AMOLED display. It is the tip of the iceberg.

It is the cutting edge of technology and AMOLED screens are the displays for the future gadgets. The curved AMOLED screens have a long road to go for now. It can kick off a new trend in displays and the tech corporations will strive to push it forward.

The first company to have a curved AMOLED screen will sell like hot cakes. Samsung seems very serious about it and will now strive to push it in its products.

AMOLED is an acronym for Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode. It is a technology, which is old, but it has made a comeback in the high end screens. It is a thin layer of polymers, which are organic. They light up after touched by electric current. They are simple in orientation. They are ultra-sleek and thin. They don’t need a backlight. Shutting pixels off can save electricity as well as battery life of smartphones. Keeping the backgrounds to black can save battery power.

Some people call the AMOLED screen as pentile display. This is the feature of most AMOLED screens. Because of this, the screen is brightened that is as bright as the actual LCD screens. Samsung used the same screens in its Samsung galaxy SIII smartphones.

Nintendo on the money

Nintendo has made a big bet on Wii U console. It will be having a tablet like controller. The displays can finally use wireless controllers for functioning. With the help of curved AMOLED display, a sleek next generation Xbox controller is obtained. The screen is fitting and all works well. The screen does need to remain separate anymore.

Cars had stereo controls on a steering wheel. That was old school. Now, imagine if the steering wheel has a speedometer, GPS and stereo in one place.

Even if that’s not the case, the high tech car corporations will be adjusting curved AMOLED displays on the dashboard that is futuristic. The cars already have heads up display in the windshield. This technology can grow and build on. The present LCD displays can be removed.

Now, the latest technology is e-ink watch, which can connect the smartphone to Bluetooth. It was big a success on kick starter. It raised ten million dollars. The next generation of smartphones, televisions and wrist watches would be employing AMOLED technology. They have a super thin display and can easily fit any given wrist.

The Super AMOLED screens are here to stay and give a longer battery life and screen life. The power used is a fraction of LCD screens.
