The Tesla Model S is the latest sensation in the car industry and it is super sporty, super sexy and super cool. It is the 2012 Motor Trend magazine’s Car of the Year. Motor Trend has chosen the all-electric car as its ultimate car. It has beaten the likes of:

Motor Trend magazine revealed that selecting the Tesla Model S was a tough call, as there were big heavyweights in the nominations. But, at the end, it was a unanimous decision by the judges.
The Car of the Year award is cherry on top of the cake for Tesla Model S.
The CEO Elon Musk is quite content with its performance and reviews. The automakers are based in California and began selling the Tesla Model S in June.
Space X: The aerospace venture
Elon Musk is also the cofounder as well as CEO of Space X. it is an aerospace venture and is the very first private company to operate an international space station. It has its own capsule and rocket. NASA has hired Space X for making supply runs to ISS.
The Tesla Model S is a four door luxury sedan, which features a rear wheel drive. It has a rear positioned three phase AC induction motor. It has a 40 KWh battery power and can reach easily 160 miles for one single charge. The price of Tesla Model S is 58.570 dollars. Tesla has also released 1000 limited edition Model S sedans. These have a powerful 85 KWh battery power and can run 300 miles for one solo charge. They are priced at 95,000 to 105,000 dollars.
Problem with electric cars
The electric vehicles are hot in demand these days due to inflation, and they are inexpensive as well. Nissan Leaf faced some controversies and the issues are being dealt with. Still, the charging stations are less.
Most of the Americans are still warming up to the idea of an electric car. It is a non-gasoline powered vehicle. Edward Loh, the editor in chief of the Motor Trend magazine said that this car was a game changer. It was the fastest sedan on American soil run by electricity. It is the world’s first premium electric sedan. It has battery options and upgrades.
Heat from government
During the presidential elections, the US presidential candidate Mitt Romney called Tesla and Solyndra as losers. They received support from federal government. When federal funding comes into play, then heat also comes into play. Tesla needed to reach certain boundaries, which were not possible without federal funding.
Its acceleration was terrific, so was its handling. It is a miracle shaped into a car and a very gorgeous one too. It can seat up to seven passengers. Also, it doesn’t look darkie and geeky. President Barrack Obama wants at least one million electric cars on the road by 2015. It is a daunting objective. There are as of yet only 50,000 electric vehicles on American roads. That is five percent of the targeted.
