Taken 2 takes audience hostage

While Taken 2 has taken the audience hostage, the cartoon animated movie called Frankenweenie, fell short of the standard expectations. The 3D movie from the Walt Disney studios made only 11.5 bucks in its first week. Tim Burton remains shallow this year yet again.
Pitch Perfect is a new movie with limited release, but was able to gain 21.6 million dollars in ten days. It is a comedy movie.

Taken 2 movie appealed to a male audience and the men warmed to it more quickly than women.
Liam Neeson is gaining strength and more strength with The A-Team and Taken franchise. He is a prominent action hero after Taken made 226.8 million dollars. He got many movie offers even at the age of 60. He did Unknown in 2011 and The Grey in 2012. Both received shallow response from the audience.
Hotel Transylvania was another movie and took the thunder from Frankenweenie. The 3D monster film topped the multiplex last weekend and it did a total business of 76 million.
Another Tim Burton movie called Dark Shadows featuring Johnny Depp as a vampire did lukewarm business at the box office with 80 milllion dollar budget. The production budget was twice that amount. His movies Corpse bride and A nightmare before Christmas were not exactly very big successes either.
Disney spent some 39 million dollars for making Frankenweenie, which is from 1984 story about a boy, who tries to bring his dead dog from the dead.
Taken 2 did exceptional business in UK and France, where it was shot. Pitch Perfect was a movie, which had strong buzz about it and it opened up in 2770 theatres. Universal Pictures has high expectations from this movie about a college singing group.
