Dr Dre Headphones Review

11 September 2012 2 Comments

You really need to get out of your home, if you don’t know who Dr Dre is. You may have seen many people wearing the Dr Dre headphones around and the logo is very prominent.

Due to successful marketing, the Monster’s Beats headphones from Dr Dre have become hit. They were launched in 2009 and now, they are available everywhere in England.

The Monster’s Beats headphones have acquired an iconic status just as Apple has acquired with its iPod. It became a household name in the market like fire. Its rise to prominence was meteoric.

So in this article, let’s examine them inside out.

The hardware

They look terrific and the packaging is screaming premium and first class all the way. The build quality is remarkable and unquestionable. It is built to last.

They are also foldable for commuting and transportation purposes. They are available in padded carry case.

There are two audio cables available with Monster’s Beats headphones. One is a standard 3.5 mm cable and another cable which will work with control talk.

With the help of control talk, you can play/pause the music and elevate and lower the volume down without using the hand. This will need an Apple iPad, iPod and iPhone.

If a call comes on the iPhone, the song will pause automatically and you can receive your call and afterwards, the song will resume.

In many ways it is a flawless product and it’s very sad to observe that they do not sound that good as the claim made.

Dr Dre has been quoted on the cover that people should listen sound as they hear it in the studio as he does. People do not hear the real music.

The sound

But it’s a claim, which is a pile of horseshit.

The first impression given by the Dr Dre headphones is muddy and sufficient time was given to it for adjusting to the flow, but no surprise came. The performance has remained below standard level. The bass heavy music may sound hollow.

Now, all of this is surprising when a hip hop producer has endorsed them.

The pricing

The price of these Monster’s Beats Dr Dre headphones is nearly 150 pounds and on the high street, it may be even more than that. The Monster’s Beats headphones by Dr Dre are endorsed by the biggest names in music industry and the studio quality sound is not impressive even then.

They are hard and uncomfortable to wear as well. A head turn will shake them up from your ears. They can even fall off the head. The sound factor hasn’t been taken care off.

But, it seems that people do not have a problem with that anyway. The sound quality it seems wasn’t the aim for the market as it is mediocre at best.

They are terrific and sturdy. They are from the house of Dr Dre. People think that is reason enough.  They are not really good in sound quality though.
