Finishing up on Ice Cream Sandwich

Prelude

This is our final article on Ice Cream Sandwich, the versatile, but every improving operating system from the tech giant, Google. It has made some improvements in this update, fixing some bugs from the last version.

When the Google Nexus S was released along with Gingerbread operating system, there was a two month delay during which the Nexus owners didn’t receive their update. People were anticipating a quick update from Google, which didn’t happen. Google was bent on extensive testing before releasing the latest version of Android.

In the case of Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich, Google did well to update the Nexus S Smartphone’s. But the Nexus One owners are left stranded with their Smartphone’s. But Google is trying to keep the gap between update for the Nexus devices as small as possible.

Install the update manually on the Google Nexus S and go through every detail. This operating system is very critical for Google as it makes its way smoothly into the Smartphone market. Matias Duarte is the brains behind this leading Android operating system. There is one operating system for all tablets and Smartphone’s

With this operating system, all tablets and Smartphone’s will be unified under one roof.

The home screen of Ice Cream Sandwich

The boot animation, which is silly and blurry shows varied colored tiles moving around which has been taken from Gingerbread operating system. This will work only, if you initiate the Google backup service, which stores information about your applications such as WI-FI passwords and other things.

The home screen has changed quite a bit and there are four application shortcuts at the bottom and the applications tray is in the middle. The dock is customizable and you can arrange and alter the shortcuts if you like. All of the Google applications have been redesigned and it looks adorable.

A static Google search bar is provided at the top of the home screen. It can be disabled. It will not give way for more application icons though. If you delete the search bar, it will result in search button of Nexus S not working.  So, the leave the search bar alone. Add the widgets and applications just like Android Honeycomb for tablets. Press the application drawer icon on the dock and move through the applications and bring them to the home screen.

You can also access many available widgets from the application drawer page and bring them to your screen. It does not work for third party applications, do remember that. You can adjust the size of the applications too. This feature is very handy. So, another handy list of features is added to the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system as it gets better and better with each update.

The final word on Ice Cream Sandwich

As pretty apparent, the first version of Ice Cream Sandwich was rudimentary and only served the purpose of an operating system, which needed massive improvement. But, with each update, the Ice Cream Sandwich went from strength to strength.
