Google had updated its Ice Cream Sandwich operating system recently. The user experience was the main focus and Google was very successful in creating a modern, versatile and coherent operating system. Now, Google has released Jelly Bean 4.1 and has done some enhancements and tweaks, which were not available in Ice Cream Sandwich. The Jelly Bean operating system was first used on Google Nexus 7 tablet.

Jelly Bean for tablets

The Jelly Bean operating system was primarily developed to make the interface smooth and soft. Google had named this project as project butter. The opening and closing of the applications run at 60 frames per second. Playing with Google Nexus 7 will soon make that evident. Even though Ice Cream Sandwich was good enough, but Jelly Bean goes far beyond its predecessor. There is no hanging and hiccups in the home screen.

After you turn on the Google Nexus 7, a widget shows all the Google Play such as music and books. The emphasis of Google is on Google Play. The search bar is white in color and matches the Google color scheme. The new applications will arrange themselves on the screen. The setup looks more organized and sophisticated.

The flash is not supported with Google chrome. This is the first drawback as flash is needed for playing videos. Many websites still support it. Also, HTML is not supported as well. That remains to be seen.

Furthermore, there are more features missing in the Android browser. Text flow is missing and Google chrome can not reformat the on-screen text to line-break itself. Google will integrate this feature later on. The quick swiping feature is also gone. Also, full screen is missing in portrait view. The previous browser of the Android was better.

Jelly Bean is better than Ice Cream Sandwich, but not in the case of Chrome.

The gallery viewing works the same as the last one and the images can be seen in filmstrip style. You can switch to filmstrip mode.

This feature is catchy and one finds use for it soon.

Google wants its users to use its media interface on Nexus 7. The media files are available on Google Play. Google current is good for news.

Google Nexus is 7-inch in size and Google has introduced its two pane layout for most of its applications. For example, the contact applications works like this. The names are on the left side and details are on the right side.

The social updates can also be viewed from the right pane.

Google current is not a new application. It was there before, but Google has re launched it again. It is a rival to flip board and provides a magazine like experience for the readers. Both of the applications are very lovable, but the Flip board is better than Google current.

The Gmail application in Jelly Bean is terrific and it hasn’t changed one bit. There is nothing new, but it is as good as before.
