Until recently, the mobile phone manufacturers were in tough competition to make the smallest
Smartphone, not larger than a credit card in length and width. The race has been abandoned and
has moved towards developing larger Smartphone’s. They get bigger and better each year. Titan
from HTC is one prime example of such trend. It has a mammoth 4.7 inch screen and seems like
a tablet, not a Smartphone.

The HTC sensation was also a great Smartphone with a 4.3 inch screen. It felt too big for a
Smartphone and now HTC Titan has 4.7 inches screen.

HTC Titan no wonder has a screen of 4.7 inches, but on the other hand it is also very thin. It is
not as thin as the HTC HD2, it is smaller than that. HTC as always has used the high quality
metal elements for creating a premium Smartphone. It feels great to be in your hand. When it
comes to using material, HTC outclasses every other technology company.

One noteworthy defect in the HTC Titan was that pressing a corner of HTC Titan would give a
creaking sound and it seems the back cover isn’t fixed properly.

HTC Titan has a large capacitive display and recognizes touch input very nicely and reliably.
Thanks to the SLCD technology, the color reproduction is terrific and is better than the

AMOLED screen. Another minor defect is the WVGA resolution which is inadequate for the
large 4.7 inch screen. The HTC Titan is not at all a bad Smartphone but not comparable to I-
Phone or HTC sensation either. Both of them have a higher and richer pixel density. But that
isn’t entirely HTC’s fault because Microsoft doesn’t provide any other resolution other than
WVGA on windows phones.

But there are rumors that this will change soon. There are strong undercurrents of HD windows
phones soon. Also, it is worth noting that supporting different kinds of resolution on the mobile
devices is risky due to fragmentation problems. But this is apparent that Microsoft is not able to
support high end Smartphone’s with WVGA resolution.

There is no sign of dual core processor in the windows phone as yet. The HTC Titan is surely
very fast and the windows Phone mango works wonders along with it. At the end of the day, the
performance of a Smartphone should be great. Microsoft has delivered with the windows phone
7.5 Mango.

The HTC Titan is equipped with an impressive 1.3 megapixel camera which is facing front side.
The buttons are capacitive same as windows phone. There is a camera button on the right side
and the volume control is at the top.

There is a micro SD slot on the left side and the power and mic slot are on top. There is
apparently no reason as to why HTC has placed the power button on the top. It’s hard to reach
the power button of a 4.7 inch Smartphone. The power button must be on the side as done.
